Research And Development Engineer - Additive Manufacturing
Cincinnati, Oh
Material development-Optimized build parameter sets for current available materials as well as developed new parameter sets for experimental materials. -Analyzed micrographs for porosity, cracking, and other material defects.-Printed test blanks, analyzed testing results to show mechanical property changes in relation to parameter changes. Process monitoring and controls-Designed and implemented in-process and post-process equipment to improve part quality, consistency, and throughput.-Developed best practice procedures and protocol for additive machines.New equipment exploration-Applied prior knowledge, research, and vendor training to become local expert for all new equipment (additive, metallography, metrology, process monitoring).Machine modifications and augmentation-Designed, built, installed, and tested new hardware for additive machines. (new recoating methods, smaller build chambers, lighting improvements, inert gas environment) Lead engineer and educator within research and development team.-Created educational classes to spread additive knowledge within R&D and GE organization.-Managed and delegated work for new team members and co-ops.
