In 1992 I started the firm Baumgartner Partners. I wanted a change in culture from other firms I had worked in. I believe accountancy and tax is not primarily about numbers. Numbers are the tools we use to deliver services to our clients. I believe accountancy is about relationships. Thus I started my own accountancy firm in 1992, with the vision of "successful relationships" as the mantra governing our culture on how the firm delivers its service.

Bourne Griffiths was a dynamic firm with a vibrant energetic culture, always looking for an edge during the era when tax planning was about identifying and exploiting every tax loophole that could be found.My role with the firm revolved around managing a tax client base and developing a financial planning division.

I was employed as a graduate by Arthur Young in the middle of a nasty recession. I started life there in the business services division working for Geoff Dwyer preparing accounts and tax returns. Eventually I attained the position of supervisor but more importantly; president of the (previously non-existent) social club.
