Put simply, it doesn't have to be that way and and at Capital Painting Services its not.My two part role is about building and refining the current painting systems for increased efficiency and predictability as well as increasing profitable sales through a new definition of customer experience.One of the early industry leading changes is a visual report of the work carried out critically showing what can't be seen once the job is completed, such as before and after photos of repairs. Think 'Painters Report' in addition to a builders report and you're on the right track. The report also includes many 'must knows' for property owners providing them with a clear advantage come time to sell.We are currently deciding on the best mobile technology for communication as well as setting visual expectations with customers. Residential painting, inside or out, can be a significant investment so we think that customers should be guided through a visual decision making process that creates confidence and reassurance.Finally, like any business that desires growth, I'm responsible for making the business scalable in every way. The way we communicate, the way we work, the way we set expectations, the way we positively surprise every individual customer, the way we market, the way we sell, the way we're interpretated and the way that we introduce new standards as 'the norm' are only a handful of considerations for our long term sustainable growth.I love changing the relevance of a business for its customers.     I am responsible for the overall growth of the printing.com (pdc) network in New Zealand (NZ). In addition to pdc, we have just launched our pilot studio for our new business named Nettl. pdc is New Zealand's largest franchised retail print and design business. In addition to the 32 franchised sites around New Zealand, we also have 45 non-franchised re-sellers. During 2012 I was responsible for creating the unbranded national network of re-sellers. I was tasked with increasing our market penetration. I created an unbranded offer which could be used within our existing territories. The result has seen 45 additional businesses join our network, an increase in sales and better use of the production platform.Culture change is a substantial area of responsibility. Over the past 2 years we have changed the culture from being production driven to sales driven. For a traditionally robust manufacturing business, this has been a big shift in mindset and no small undertaking.Nettl is a new and equally exciting opportunity. There is an obvious gap in the market for a national level brand that delivers 'easy to understand'​ and 'profitably effective'​ websites to businesses. The pilot studio has performed exceedingly well. A 'start-up' with no customers on day one was profitable after only three months. We're now engaging the market and will have a further 3 studios open by May 1st 2016. Nettl is the second brand that I am building around New Zealand. I was associated with the printing.com growth, with the main build driven by Steve Messenger. The White Label brand was the first national brand I was tasked with building (now 45 businesses strong).
