He is a second-generation Miamian, with deep roots in the community. He graduated from the University of Florida, receiving a B.A. in history suma cum laude and his law degree cum laude. Mr. Benjamin began his career as a prosecutor in the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office. There he gained invaluable litigation skills, trying dozens of complex and series criminal matters before some of Miami’s finest judges and juries. Because of his unique blend of communications skills and compassion, he achieved the position of Chief Prosecutor in the specialized Misdemeanor Domestic Violence Unit. Mr. Benjamin put his knowledge, skills and contacts to use as an advocate for his clients in private practice through creating his first small, boutique family law firm in Miami. Mr. Benjamin handled complex, high net worth dissolution of marriage cases, domestic violence injunction hearings and dependency matters (including termination of parental rights cases). Mr. Benjamin argued numerous motions and final hearings throughout South Florida. Through it all, Mr. Benjamin showed care and compassion for the well-being of his clients. However, he discovered that the often-toxic adversarial nature of the legal system proved to be destructive for his clients and their families. Therefore, Mr. Benjamin started DLB Law. At DLB Law, we have found that dissolution of marriage cases where both spouses participate in either pre-litigation mediation or a collaborative divorce end in a healthier and happier way then those litigated in court.
