About David Bindon
Hi! I'm David Bindon from Canton, Michigan. I am currently pursuing a master's degree in War Studies at King's College London, funded by the Marshall Scholarship. I served as the First Captain in the United States Military Academy Class of 2019, graduated valedictorian, and was ranked first overall in my class—joining a group of thirteen Cadets since 1872 to serve in the highest cadet leadership position and graduate ranked first. While studying mechanical engineering at West Point, I completed a number of technical projects for better understanding fluid dynamics in urban and rural landscapes; for developing more efficient turbine vanes for passenger flights and steam-based power generation; and for porting flight software to cheaper, faster, and commercially-available computers used in the theater of war. Aside from my academic pursuits at West Point, I dedicated my time to various leadership positions: mentoring 22 high schoolers interested in the Academy, serving as a commander of 1,430 cadets in six-week summer training experience, and more. I also played for the NCAA Women’s Basketball Practice Squad while at West Point, and commissioned as an Army Aviation Officer.
