Senior Network And Optical Engineer

Developed and implemented the PM program to maintain all equipment and facilities across the entire State of Washington. Provided project management and design for all major backbone upgrades, moving the network from the initial 2 OC-48s to 5 OC-48s and the integration of a 10G capable active DWDM system into the original passive DWDM system. Managed upgrade of core network and deployment of DWDM equipment for more than 1,800 miles of fiber under the federal BTOP program. Ensured smooth integration of new fiber routes into the existing network. Coordinated the connectivity of all new core switches and routers to support the BTOP mission, this included the design, installation, and turn up of (10) 10Gbps rings and (2) 100Gbps ring on the new and existing network. Prepared the core network for the deployment of additional 100Gbps transport, which included grooming multiple 10G channels to create guard bands, power upgrades at node sites, and project management of the deployment.
