Responsible for the preventative and corrective maintenance of a variety of Broadcast Equipment from the studio program feed through the various systems to the antenna. Initial company provided training culminated in a Post Graduate Certificate in Wireless Communications, in house bespoke training provided specific knowledge for the maintenance of the equipment in my duty area. Responsible for covering numerous remote sites spread over a large geographical area, effectively responding to prioritised tasks throughout normal working hours, on call and out of ours as required. Within these duties I have achieved a good working knowledge of microwave links, networks, electro and mechanical equipment such as generators both mobile and static,, telemetry and control units, modification and project delivery, RF awareness, professional driver training, working at height including qualified for rooftop access. Also working to company standards and procedures whilst adhering to all the relevant Health and Safety Requirements associated with my role and associated working areas. As well as broadcast equipment I am also responsible for the maintenance of a network of backhaul sites for the Gas and Electric Smart Meter systems.

Managing a critical information management systems platform and associated personnel, responsible for leading a small team providing 24hr technical support including managing equipment deployment for static and mobile roles in both national and international environments. Within this period I also oversaw the implementation of a replacement system including design and delivery of a technical training package for the deployment and maintenance teams.

Network Equipment Maintenance, Lisbon, Portugal

I received DV clearance as a requirement for this post because I was responsible for a number of secure internal and external links and communications systems. During my time I completed courses on COMSEC System Engineering, Network Core Switch, Bandwidth Management Equipment (Promina), Packet Transmission Communications, ICND 1 & 2 and CIPT 1 & 2. The later was specific to my primary task of deploying, maintaining and recovering of the VOIP system and assets.

As part of a 24hr cover system responsible for running a small shift providing on site maintenance of the UK Air Defence Command and Control information and communications system. Also the single point of contact for all the national sites and associated communications and information feeds into the Command and Control system. Including technical support and fault escalation, reporting to the Chief Operator on the Ops floor and providing daily briefs to the Officer In Charge of the UKs Air Defence Command and Control capabilities.

Raf Boulmer, No 1Acc

I was responsible for supervising the deployment and recovery of the Air Defence Tactical Air Control Centre. Further to this I was trained as a SME in the scheduled maintenance and repair of all the systems except the diesel generators. This was a pilot project by THALES so there were a number of improvements instigated through its early years during which I liaised closely with the manufacturer assessing issues and suggesting solutions.

Raf Cottesmore

Leaving trade training as a Junior Technician this was my first posting, whilst at Cottesmore I completed RAF delivered training at RAF Locking on the AR15, DN811, DPS 200 SSR processor, TRN26, DRDF and Mascot Mincomms. After 2 years and 11 months I was promoted to Cpl and completed GST 1 at RAF Hereford and TMT 1 at RAF Locking and adopted the role of shift supervisor.
