Software Engineer
CurrentI was hired in March as a Senior Technical Trainer, to help build and run the Accelerated Performance Training initiative. Though we used edX courses for some of the course, I evaluated the courses, designed supplementary assignments, designed and ran the labs that took up the end of training, and held office hours for students. We also had significant trouble setting up the labs, so I worked with IT to package the lab software in a VM and deploy it on Azure. I'm somewhat proud of this, because it required quit a bit of pushing and commitment on my part!APT does most of its hiring during the summer. After working on the VM during the fall, I volunteered to help of our state accounts doing dotnet development. For that account, I designed several services in C# and PowerShell, while also helping to mentor some junior developers.Unfortunately, while I was working on the Wisconsin account, the APT program was terminated; therefore, instead of returning to training, after finishing up on Wisconsin, I was moved to the Puerto Rico account, where I've been doing batch financial development. I'm working with C, C++ and Pro*C programs, both adapting existing programs and writing new ones; writing, debugging, and editing our C-shell job scripts, and writing BASH scripts for my own use; writing supporting utilities in Python; working with our Oracle database, both to debug programs and to establish testing data; and working with IWS scheduling units.
