Hm Forces for 9 years prior to joining Skanska I have now spent over 30 years with Skanska.in all its forms.I am currently looking after Lifting operation's within Skanska, I have recently completed a new Lifting Standards document for Skanska this embraces all forms of lifting equipment, the new standard is to be launched during 2018, and picks up all the recent changes to BS7121, best practice changes from the HSE, CPA and specialist interest groups are now incorporated, in addition to this many of the latest Technical innovations are also included.We have been working closely with CITB on Non Crane related Lifting for APs and Slinger Signallers, as the current courses available, do not now cover much of the detail now required.This is due to the much greater variety of Lifting equipment now in use, and of course the recent changes around how Legislation and management controls should be enhanced.Many in the construction industry do not fully understand the changes regarding Excavators in particular, recent changes regarding competency and training requirement's. As always education is key! so over the next few years the intention is to get as much knowledge out to our sites and operating units around the UK as possible.One further area that is part of my personnel focus is safe control measures for both Plant and Vehicle Marshalling on construction sites, I am working very closely with the CITB in this area presently. In my role currently I am also advising on Logistics / Scaffolding / Hoists / and all forms of LiftingActively coaching and training, for AP lifting roles NVQ taught are from level 2 to level 6.Bringing together together Lead APs from other companies, so we get the best possible spread of good ideas and increaed safety standards and best practice accross as many construction areas as possible.Also teaching in areas regarding Excavator safety and Lifting with specialist Plant within Skanska.
