I am experienced in applying the principles of Fire Safety & Fire Engineering in a wide range of situations.Retired from the London Fire Brigade in 2013, I was a Senior Manager who managed a large team of fire safety officers enforcing fire safety legislation. I have a BSc in Fire Safety & Risk Management and have previously been a member of the IFE Fire Safety Auditors interviewing panel. From 2013 until 2018 I practiced as an independent fire consultant working for a range of companies both in the UK and overseas.From 2018 until April 2024 I worked for Approved Inspector Services Ltd as their Senior Fire Engineer. This work included validating fire strategies which were in support of Building Regulations submissions.From July 2024 I am working for Ashton Fire Ltd as a Senior Fire Safety Consultant. Areas of expertise:• Fire safety legislation and how to achieve fire safety compliance through Approved Document B or other guidance documents e.g. BS 9999, BS9991 and BS7974.• Qualitative and quantitative assessment of fire risk and the implementation of appropriate and proportionate control measures. • Technical fire safety standards.• Delivering fire safety information / training to a range of stakeholder groups.Workplace history:I was an operational fire officer for over 30 years until retiring in May 2013. For the majority of the last 21 years my main area of expertise has been in fire safety where I served as both an Inspecting Officer and Senior Fire Safety Officer 1992-01 - Fire Safety Inspecting Officer in the busy boroughs of Wandsworth, Merton, Sutton and Croydon.2001-05 - Station Manager working for Assistant Commissioner dealing with strategic issues including appointments, promotions, discipline, HR and industrial relations.2005-13 - Operational Senior Officer and Senior Fire Safety Officer. Responsible for the day to day organisation and management of a large team of staff whose job amongst other things was the enforcement of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order.During the London Olympics I carried out the role of Senior Fire Safety Officer at a number of London venues including the Olympic Park.
