I am a big fan of cricket, and not because I am boring. If you list all the things I like on a page and ask a dolphin to pick the odd one out, cricket is gone. Cricket and me; unexpected bedfellows. Cricket can be slow, painfully slow; the commentators will happily tell you about the seagulls on the pitch. It doesn’t give you the constant yell-at-the-screen gratification of other sports, and the best players in the world can get away with smoking problems and beer bellies. But when you notice three out swingers race past the edge of a batsman, and the fourth cut in to embarrass him back to primary school, you know its worth it. The patience and delivery of a perfectly planned and articulated strategy all combining to spill beers around the world.If I try to think of something that better utilises my alternative innovation and passion for strategy than marketing, advertising and media, I get chess with a monkey and the communication barrier and pay is not worth it.
