Navigate, LLC is an IT Managed Service Provider (MSP) based in Louisville, Kentucky with clients nationwide. I manage the day-to-day operations of the company, including coordinating our IT services and managing our engineers and technicians. I also scope and manage complex interdisciplinary IT projects and provide tier 3 engineering support. Our services include advanced systems and network engineering, administration, maintenance and support and are built around a proactive service model for a flat monthly rate. At Springleaf (now OneMain) I managed a staff of 11, and was responsible for all IT web site development work and e-commerce applications, including taking credit applications on the web site, processing electronic signatures, and the mySpringleaf customer service application that allows customers to manage their loan accounts online. Technologies utilized include J2EE, Apache, IBM WebSphere and Web Content Manager, CSS, HTML5, and more. I managed an average of 20 development projects a month and interfaced with many other teams to get things done.

As the IT Manager at FLANDERS, I was ultimately responsible for providing a full range of IT voice & data services to over 850 employees at all Flanders locations around the globe including Indiana, Illinois, Texas, Florida, Wyoming, Arizona, Australia, Chile, South Africa, and Canada. I managed an IT team of 12 personnel and set technology strategy for the company, utilizing technology where possible to streamline business processes thereby enabling our workforce to better serve our clients. My focus at FLANDERS was to transform the IT department from a reactive state into a proactive state. I have also overseen hundreds of operations/infrastructure and programming/development projects in that time including major upgrades & migrations to a Cisco UCS blade server environment and a 53TB EMC SAN environment. We also standardized on Windows 7 / Office 2010. My philosophy is to ensure that systems are reliable, upgradeable, & supportable. In that vein, we migrated away from all legacy systems that do not meet those criteria, while focusing on ROI and optimal service for our internal and external customers. I founded the Business Solutions division of the company (now known as Systems Engineering & Support) which provides comprehensive IT consulting services in the Evansville area, acting as an outsourced IT department / managed service provider for- at the time I left- over 70 companies from small to large enterprises supporting more than 850 desktop computers and 60 servers. As a direct result of the Business Solutions division, ITA won three coveted awards in 2010 including the 2010 Small Business of the Year Award from the Chamber of Commerce of Southwest Indiana, Indiana Companies to Watch from the Indiana Economic Development Coalition, and the Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Integrity. In my position, I regularly provided technical evaluations of potential clients' IT infrastructures, making recommendations and providing proposals including 'grading' every aspect of an IT infrastructure and establishing a prioritized to-do list and game plan to address issues, as well as develop and establish systems that utilize technology to streamline business processes and move the IT environment into a proactive, rather than reactive, state. I also performed IT personnel recruitment and placement services for clients with that need, finding and vetting appropriate candidates and helping them through the process to ensure that the client and the candidate are both satisfied. I managed a staff of 8 employees and many more contractors to provide these services, as well as provided IT guidance to staff and clients, addressing any client customer service issues, and managing various IT projects.

As a contractual employee for the City of Evansville / Vanderburgh County (Indiana) Dept. of Information Technology, and a direct (W2) employee for Mark Rolley Consulting, Inc., I provided consulting services primarily to the city / county government and worked on-site at the Evansville Civic Center. My duties included Project Management of multiple IT projects as well as Applications Development using CityView by Municipal Software Corporation - a proprietary client/server application (similar to VB, with an Access/SQL backend) through which I designed applications for several city / county departments to handle all business services and processes through a MS SQL Server platform. I also served as the city/county webmaster, and designed and managed the city/county web sites and other departmental sites. I also administered the city/county web and media severs (Windows 2003 Advanced Server, IIS, SQL Server, Windows Media Server), cluster configuration and management, and helped the GIS Dept. to publish GIS mapping applications to the web. I designed a successful Animal Control Application to streamline Animal Control processes and add accountability into the process. I was Project Manager of the following CityView Application Development Projects: Code Enforcement (DMD, Building Commission, Area Plan), Permitting & Inspections (Building Commission), Planning (Area Plan), Fleet Management (Transportation / Services, County Garage, etc.), and Work Order Management (Transportation / Services, etc.).

From 1999 to 2005, I operated a sole-proprietorship called Tracer Technology which was an e-business specializing in the sale of military and law enforcement equipment including body armor, tactical gear, night vision systems, weapon optics, radar guns, etc. Clients included the US Navy, Drug Enforcement Agency, and various SWAT teams and local law enforcement departments around the country. I also provided IT Consulting services through Tracer to several clients in the local area. I sold Tracer Technology in 2005 for a profit since I no longer had the time to properly dedicate to the business.

At OVC, as Network Engineer, I was project manager for various IT and networking projects including the migration of e-mail, web, DNS and FTP servers from OpenBSD to Windows 2000 Server. I also deployed a network wide bandwidth management system (Allot NetEnforcer), and emphasized the importance of expansion of OVC’s coverage area to management. In that light, I researched, selected, configured, and deployed an Airspan 900MHz wireless system that now provides high speed Internet service to the Posey County, Indiana area. Duties included RF engineering, LAN/WAN engineering, system implementation and integration, troubleshooting, router configuration, network/IT support for cable installers in the field, etc. I resigned from OVC in order to pursue an opportunity with MRC / City of Evansville.

As the Internet/Data Specialist for SIGECOM's Commercial Sales Dept., my responsibilities included analyzing client networks to offer solutions involving SIGECOM, answering questions for clients, and driving Internet/Data sales for SIGECOM. SIGECOM is a CLEC based in Evansville, Indiana offering local telephone service, LD, digital cable TV, cablemodem and fiber-optic Internet access, point-to-point, and frame relay solutions. Position was eliminated due to lack of funding.

I was Systems Administrator for Ohio Valley Wireless, LTD (dba Ohio Valley Cable) Responsibilities included management and administration of OVC's wireless cablemodem Internet access branded “Speedex.” Administered multiple Unix and NT servers, routers, T1s, and Hybrid cablemodems (and CMTS/CMGR). Work also included installation and support of cablemodems and client networks, including RF troubleshooting. Resigned in order to accept position at SIGECOM.

I founded Maverick Computer Services in 1997 as Evansville's fourth Internet Service Provider. I was in charge of the day to day operations of the company, and was in charge of managing a staff of seven employees. We had hundreds of dial-up customers and more than fifty web site design and hosting clients. In the course of the company, I performed various duties including billing, sales, web site design, systems administration (Windows NT), customer service, programming, and corporate relations. Needless to say, I am familiar with virtually every aspect of ISP operations and management. We sold Maverick Computer Services, Inc. on November 1, 1999, but I stayed on as Vice President of Indiana Online to run the Evansville office until March of 2000. In addition, I was named Vice President of Operations for ISP Group, Inc. (the international holding company based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada which we sold the company to). Resigned.

Evansville Courier Company, Night Computer Operator. Duties included running nightly computer operations on VAX/VMS, Unix (SunOS), PDP/1170, Windows, OS/2, etc. for both the Courier and Press vital to the timely production of the newspapers. Also trained and supervised other night operations employees. Resigned in order to start MCSI.

Duties included PC troubleshooting and repair, assisted in installing Novell and Microsoft networks, data entry, setting up computer rooms, etc.
