During the university holidays, I worked in the lab at UCB, where I successfully identified antibodies which could stimulate and antagonize signalling by Programmed cell death 1 (PD1) in vitro. PD1 is a receptor expressed on the surface of T-cells which can down-regulate immune responses to promote tolerance, as opposed to activation of the immune system which can lead to autoimmunity if improperly triggered. My supervisor was Dr Anthony Scott-Tucker.
