CurrentAt Western Harnett Middle School, I give Middle School students the opportunity to explore different career clusters and pathways to help them begin to think about their futures, and prepare them for future success. Using highly engaging, hands-on, career-focused learning experiences, students are guided toward the next step in their learning journey. Employing the Paxton-Patterson Learning Management System, students are provided the ultimate in career exploration to engage them in authentic problem-based learning experiences as they discover their interests and aptitudes. Starting with Personal Finance, students have opportunity to choose the area of interest they wish to explore, including: Computer Graphics & Game Development; Computer Assisted Design (CAD); Digital Manufacturing; Forensics; Veterinary; Intro to Child Development; Intro to Engineering and Design; Lasers; Welding; Robotics; Structural Engineering; Home Maintenance Fundamentals; Electricity; Engines and Power; Sports Medicine; Emergency Medical Technician; and Nursing.
