Legal ExperienceFor about 20 years, I have been working in various aspects of intellectual property, including drafting and prosecuting patents, providing legal guidance on issues of patentability, patent infringement, freedom-to-operate, IP due diligence, and offering strategic counseling. I received my bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (summa cum laude) from Michigan Technological University in 2003 and my JD from Marquette in 2007. My expertise is not limited to mechanical engineering but has expanded to other disciplines, including computer technology, physics, process engineering, and electrical engineering. Recently, my practice has focused on medical devices and techniques, robotics, VR/AR, wearables, aerospace, internal combustion engines, heavy equipment and electrification in the automotive and heavy work machine industries. My practice is not limited to representing Fortune 500 companies; I have also drafted several foundational patents for startups.Industry Experience After receiving my Mechanical Engineering degree, I worked as a general engineer specializing in plastics and composites in Madison, Wisconsin. In this position, I gained experience with product and process design, failure analysis, and became a member of the American Chemical Society. During law school, I worked for Johnson Controls performing various duties related to legal compliance.
