Act as network control technician responsible/Circuit Actions for the day-to-day operation of the DISN IDNX network backbone. Monitor and correct problems associated with over 250 Promina and IDNX nodes in the CONUS. Provide technical support for all Centers Positions. Run diagnostic tests to isolate and identify problem areas. Use network management tools, test equipment, technical manuals, and various computer platforms to Isolate problems and rapidly restore service to customers. Maintain working knowledge of various types of nodes, DSU/CSU multiplexers, SPX-50, ADNX-48 and other auxiliary equipment. Conducted testing and operational use for EHF LDR/MDR, NECC. Run circuit and trunk diagnostic tests to isolate and resolve circuit problems. Analyze circuit and network problems to identify fault trends and elevate to DISN engineers to ensure permanent fix procedures and reduction of repetitive network traffic problems. Identify and resolve problems associated with impaired performance of commercially leased T-1 backbone trunks. Maintain daily records of T-1s not meeting network standards; take aggressive action to ensure chronic problems are resolved; coordinate daily with commercial vendors to ensure service provided to DISA meets specifications in telecommunications service orders. Work closely with the commercial vendors and customers to ensure quality service is expedient and downtime is minimal.
