• Capability sponsor for autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) and systems.
• Delivery of successful Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) experimentation programme worth ~£100M over 5 years.

• Integration of new cryptographic systems into the UK submarine broadcast systems without any reduction in availability of critical high availability services.
• Complete rewrite of the SSBN submarine communications instructions.
• Improvements to training and operational processes leading to increased availability of critical services.
• Development and implementation of pandemic business continuity plan to ensure availability of all critical submarine C4 systems.

Information Warfare Division, Navy Command HQ, Portsmouth. UK

• Navy lead for the Information Line of Development for submarine capability and management of the submarine elements of the Navy Information Warfare portfolio.
• Sponsor for the first 'New Style of IT' hardware fit into an ASTUTE Class submarine.
• Led the transition of submarine UHF SATCOM to a modern IP based communications system.
• Acceptance of the RN Advanced EHF SATCOM system into service from an information perspective.
• Early development of the RN's information requirements for Dreadnought.

NATO Maritime Command HQ, Northwood UK

• Provision of communications services for submarines under NATO Operational Command.
• Establishment of Commander Submarines NATO (COMSUBNATO) as a full-time submarine OPCON authority through the development of reliable and persistent communications services: awarded COM MARCOM commendation.
• Production of the organisation Business Continuity Plan.
• Leadership of the NATO VLF Working Group including the submission and acceptance of the NATO future requirements for NATO VLF channels.

C4ISTAR Division, Navy Command HQ, Portsmouth. UK

• Responsible for generation of an effective operational capability for all aspects of strategic submarine communication bearers.
• Delivered improvements to the availability and effectiveness of existing HF broadcast and ship shore services for submarines.
• Production of the Naval EHF/SHF SATCOM Terminal Concept of Operations (CONOPS).
• Completed PWO CIS training.
• Development of a new communications buoy enabling submarines to communicate from deep without return to periscope depth.
• Completed Defence Project, Portfolio and Programme Management training.

Various At Sea And Ashore

Between 1984 and 2010 served in a range of submarine communications posts rising to WO1(CISSM) including serving as a sea trainer. After a successful pass at the Admiralty Interview Board undertook Officer training at BRNC Dartmouth in 2009 – awarded the Senior Upper Yardman prize.
