I have enjoyed a variety of responsibilities in the Telecommunications industry in Canada since 1992. I transitioned to Telecom in a customer service role but quickly realized that the technology was where my interests were. While working for a local start-up company I studied Telecommunications Management and then enrolled in the Electronics Technician/Telecommunications Specialty diploma program at Vancouver Community College.Upon graduation in 1996 I began a four year technician apprenticeship with Navigata Communications (then WesTel). After two years in the field I transferred to the Network Operations Centre (NOC) where I continued my apprenticeship and learned a wide range of telecom platforms in provisioning, maintenance and surveillance. When I achieved journeyman status I became the NOC team lead and was the prime responsible for Tellabs Titan DCS and Cisco BPX and MGX (ATM and frame-relay) platforms. In 2006 I accepted a position at Bell Canada at the Vancouver Data Test and Activation Centre (DTAC) where I focused on provisioning and testing IPVPN, Ethernet WAN, SONET, TDM and xDSL services.Success in the Bell DTAC led to my advancement in 2009 as Service Delivery Specialist (Data Team Lead) and as a Provisioning and Surveillance Technician for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Our team delivered services to over 31,000 Ethernet ports, 250 DS1s and 650 analog POTS lines on more than 600 network devices. We delivered a bigger communications network than at any Olympic event before – even bigger than the Beijing Summer Games in 2008 - and we delivered it flawlessly. My primary venues for service delivery were the International Broadcast Centre (IBC) and the Main Media Centre (MMC) and as a Network Surveillance Technician during the Olympic Winter Games.Specialties: Nortel Certified Support Specialist - Nortel Converged Campus ERS Installation & ConfigurationNortel Certified Technology Specialist - Nortel Data Networking TechnologyNortel Wireless LAN TechnologiesCisco CCNA Boot CampCisco ICNDCisco ATM/Frame RelayTellabs Inc.
