Dynamic Simulation Engineering Intern
Houston, Texas
I was employed to act as an important component of communication between AVEVA’s software development team and AVEVA’s clients, often chemical refineries, who use the simulation software. Clients place requests to AVEVA, often requesting bug fixes, feature implementation, or simulation corrections and I assist the software team in addressing the requests by acting as a translator from the complicated Chemical Engineering model aspect into easy to understand issues for the software team.As an example of my work, I would examine client’s simulations (often very complicated) and the functionality issues being encountered, and then I would either isolate or entirely re-create the bug issue in a far smaller and more basic model. I then send my variation that exemplifies the bug issue to the software team, and the simple model allows the software team to fix it easily. The software team produces regular improvements overnight, and I test the program to verify that these updates address client requests successfully, without altering the program in an undesirable manner before the fix is published. My supervisor was Srinivasa Karanam, and is open to reference contact at srinivasa.karanam@aveva.com
