Oversee the engineering requirements of facilities in various stages of remediation from initial assessment, design and installation, operation and maintenance, to site closure. Background includes site assessments for contaminants including chlorinated hydrocarbons, pesticides, metals and petroleum hydrocarbons. Design and conduct field tests to determine the hydro geologic parameters that control the migration of the identified contaminants and use this data to conceptualize, setup, calibrate, and validate surface, vadose zone and ground water fate and transport models. Designed water treatment systems to address volatile and semi volatile organic compounds, inorganic compounds, high BOD, COD and ammonia from recovered groundwater and landfill leachate. Remedial technologies applied include pump-and-treat, free product skimming, multiphase extraction (MPX), air sparging/soil vapor extraction (AS/SVE), in-situ and ex-situ biological enhancement. Utilize both relay logic and PLC based controls that attempt to maintain simplicity and achieve the desired goals. Designed multiple independent recovery systems operating with PLCs with HMIs and communicating over a fiber optic backbone to a common PLC controlled water treatment system all PLCs communicating to a centrally located SCADA PC. Troubleshoot/optimize and retrofit existing recovery systems that are not functioning properly. Responsible for the selection and application of innovative technologies including in-situ thermal desorption, in-situ bio-enhancement, and in-situ chemical oxidation. Conduct risk assessments to determine alternative site contaminant concentration levels. Utilize various statistical procedures including tests for normality and time series analysis (trend analysis) in the analysis of analytical data. Secondary duties include supervising, training and mentoring junior engineers. Prepared the reports summarizing modeling work, data analysis and field activities.
