Over the last 20 years my legal practice has transitioned from banking and finance, to commercial litigation, to commercial property, trusts (including charitable trusts and foundations), commercial and government law, and more recently superannuation. Throughout my last 9 years of practice I have managed a team of 10 including administrative and paralegal staff, to deliver valuable legal services to the Queensland Government, the Public Trustee and his clients. I have been grateful for the exposure that I have received whilst at the Public Trustee to be the lead lawyer for the Queensland Government on significant commercial property work including large scale social infrastructure projects for Queensland Health and very high value property work, including significant pre-commitment office leasing for the Department of Housing and Public Works. My LLM (Commercial Stream) assisted me to keep up to date with changes in the law that I practised. I am also grateful for being able to direct a commercialised government law firm of over 60 staff for around 2 years of my time at the Public Trustee. During that time I was able to refine my management style and my MBA solidified and affirmed the management functions that I undertook. As a lawyer I would like to be known for my intellect, ability to understand and facilitate what is important to a business, and form practical and creative solutions that add value and resolve matters quickly.As a manager I build and empower teams. I manage each individual’s strengths, and I develop team members who are engaged, client focused, independent and competent. My current challenge is to apply my knowledge skills and experience for the benefit of the Commonwealth Superannuation Commission.
