Vice President And Senior Deputy General Counsel
CurrentLead counsel for strategic procurement transactions supporting one of the world’s leading media, entertainment and communications companies. Responsible for negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements, including product purchase agreements, software licensing arrangements and professional service engagements. Manage 8 person team consisting of attorneys, contract specialists and a paralegal handling in excess of $4 Billion in commercial deals annually, with dotted line supervision of 10 additional personnel supporting specialized procurement activity. Responsibilities include:• Counseling E- and C- suite management on contract interpretation, corporate policies, intellectual property protection, dispute resolution and strategic decision-making.• Oversight of the implementation of the contract approval system and contract repository utilized by both the Cable and Corporate Legal departments and management of ongoing operations and improvements to such system, including build of front end contract request intake system and automated NDA system.• Lead and coordinate activities related to settlement negotiations on contract dispute matters involving both internal and external counsel.• Supporting corporate acquisitions and regulatory investigations, including contract analysis, strategic planning and review of regulatory submission materials.• Lead Commercial Forms and Templates committee that establishes and maintains common procurement agreement templates and clause library language.• Facilitate development of procurement-related polices including enterprise wide contract approval policy.• Lead legal outsourcing initiatives to support ongoing legal department activities.• Previously Served as Senior Counsel (1/2007-3/2012) and then Assistant General Counsel (1/2013-1/2016) until elevation to current position in 2016.
