Estates and Facilities Consultant with over 25 years’ experience of leading and managing high performing estates and facilities teams in Higher Education. I have significant experience of successfully delivering large capital development programmes; acquisitions and disposals; managing residential and commercial services and driving income streams; providing leadership to operational teams delivering both hard and soft services; energy and environmental management to ISO 14001 and leading on corporate Health and Safety. With an engineering background forged in the NHS and later in HE, I have extensive operational and capital development experience and provide strong strategic leadership to teams without losing sight of the detail when necessary. Strategic management and leadership of an estates and facilities service department of 85 staff with a revenue expenditure budget of c£26m and income of c£11m. My role was wide-ranging and encompassed responsibility for all of the University’s property matters including capital development and estate refurbishment, facilities management services and maintenance, property/land acquisitions & disposals and all property legal matters. Responsibility for managing a number of key income-generating services including halls accommodation and catering, conferences and events. Additionally, I managed a number of University wide services including the Health and Safety Office, Environmental and Sustainability Team, and Insurance Risk Management.

Additional duties included deputising for the Director on all estate matters and supporting an extensive capital programme including membership of several major project boards.

Project management of engineering and building projects at a large acute hospital and at other Trusts under service level agreements. Supervising Officer on a number of projects delivering projects from inception to handover in a complex healthcare environment.

Electrical design for capital schemes and project and contract management from inception to completion under JCT forms of contract.

Responsible for leading the in-house electrical and mechanical teams maintaining services at a large acute hospital. Member of commissioning team for a new nucleus development and for setting up a planned maintenance system.
