I write clear, engaging copy for nonprofit organizations to reach out to members and potential members. The text tells the story of the brand and how the reader is part of that story, whether it's public parks or helping refugees. So my job is part reporting, part persuasion—making the case for why this organization deserves your support, and enhances the world we live in.

I've written libretti for a number of operas presented or developed by American Opera Projects, including Fade (2008), The Scarlet Ibis (2015) and Three Way (2017).

Writing the libretto for Blind Injustice, a new work for Cincinnati Opera about true stories of wrongful conviction and exoneration in the state of Ohio. Cincinnati Opera's partners include the Ohio Innocence Project (OIP) at the University of Cincinnati College of Law, the Young Professional Choral Collective (YPCC), and the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music (CCM). Conceived by CCM Professor Robin Guarino and David Cote and composed by Scott Davenport Richards, the opera is based on Cincinnati Law Professor Mark Godsey’s book by same name and interviews with six OIP exonerees. Blind Injustice will bring to life the grace, perseverance and forgiveness of these incredible men and women. Premiering July 2019.

I reviewed shows on Broadway, Off and Off-Off for this legendary downtown paper. Founded in 1958, the Voice recently went exclusively online in 2017 before closing down this year. In addition to reviews, I write profiles and previews.

Wrote the libretto for Three Way (2017) a trio of one-act operas about desire and power. Composer: Robert Paterson. Coproduced by Nashville Opera and American Opera Projects. The opera had its world premiere at the James K. Polk Theater in the Tennessee Performing Arts Center in January 2017, then its NYC premiere at BAM in June 2017.
