Projects mainly within the Kitchener-Waterloo area and GTA, and a major project in the City of Ottawa known as the Natural and Open Space Study (NOSS).

Worked from 1987 to 1990 as an Associate Ecologist, joined firm as an employee in 1990 as a Senior Ecologist. Projects consisted mainly of private land development in Ontario, mostly in the Ottawa region and GTA. Main duties included vegetation, wetland and wildlife surveys of parcels of land proposed for various land use developments. Typical developments included severances, residential subdivisions, industrial, commercial, golf courses, small-head hydroelectric, servicing corridors, marinas and natural environment input into EAs, MESPs, Secondary Plans and Draft Plans of Subdivision.

Worked on the gull control crew at Tommy Thompson Park on the Lake Ontario waterfront. Duties included control of breeding gulls and terns at various locations during the construction of pods (cells) and embayments in the man-made park, that extends out into the lake at the foot of Leslie Street. Control methods included the use of pyrotechnics, as well as live hawks and eagles under the supervision of a Certified Wildlife Consultant. Also worked on in-situ flora and fauna inventories of various priority erosion control sites on the Humber River, Don River, Etobicoke Creek, Duffins Creek, Rouge River and Highland Creek, designated for hard engineering works by the Authority under the protocols of the Municipal Class EA process.

Undertook wetland evaluations using the Ontario Wetland Evaluation System (OWES) - Southern Ontario

An Engineering, Planning and Environmental consulting firm offering services in waste management, hydrology, hydrogeology, civil engineering, planning & biology. As part of the Environmental Department (Biologist), worked on various plans of subdivision, and waste management sites.

Undertook deer population surveys in Maple District MNR during winter to spring months under contract using ski-doos, helicopter and fixed-wing airplane surveys. Another contract followed as a Wetland Biologist to undertake wetland evaluations using the Southern Ontario Wetland Evaluation System (OWES) from May 1985-December 1985

Senior Biologist on contracts to prepare and manage fisheries rehabilitation projects using grants provided through the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources Fisheries Enhancement Project (FEP) program. Also was responsible for updating the Environmentally Significant Areas (ESAs) database through on-site inventories and data management. Also was the team leader of a crew undertaking a sedimentation and erosion control feasibility study of agricultural lands within the various sub-watersheds under the Authority's jurisdiction.

Worked under contract to undertake a fisheries, lobster and mussel monitoring program involving a major dredging project on the Miramichi River in New Brunswick. The dredging was undertaken to widen and deepen the shipping channels from the mouth of the Miramichi River, upstream to the pulp and paper mills. The monitoring involved collecting water and sediment samples to determine the effects of turbidity and sediment deposition on mussel beds and also effects to the fisheries and lobster beds, an important economic resource in this area. Work also involved quality control (QC) compliance with the Environment Canada Department of Natural Resources.

Worked on contracts for the MTRCA (TRCA) pertaining to various aspects of the CAs Environmentally Significant Areas (ESA) study. As a team leader for the ESA study, the responsibilities included managing field biologists, conducting on-site natural features flora and fauna inventories, ESA site write-ups, mapping and data compilation into a database.
