David Darlington is an audio professional now working as Audio Development Manager for Pottermore, responsible for developing and overseeing Harry Potter and related audio productions both in the UK (the forthcoming full-cast audio editions) and elsewhere (primarily China, but also across Scandinavia and assorted other territories). Before that, David spent over five years in charge of studio production and post-production at Audible UK's studios in London's Barbican. He had technical responsibility for all audio projects recorded on-site and the recruitment of freelance contractors to edit and check those projects, as well as providing technical advice and support across the company at international level. David has also been a producer and director of audio drama and books at Audible, in which capacity he was also heavily involved in Goldsmith College's annual Audio Drama Festival, and other interdisciplinary and charitable strategies across industry and academia. In parallel, for seven years until 2020 David was co-producer of Big Finish Productions' audio drama range Dark Shadows, overseeing all productions and devising a number of new formats within the franchise, 2012-2019. Since Dark Shadows is an American franchise, this involved liaising across the Atlantic with writer, producers, directors and actors including occasional remote directing of performances via Skype. Various productions including "Bloodlust", "Beyond The Grave" and "Panic" have been nominated for industry awards - including the BBC Drama Award - and the 2016 50th anniversary special "Blood & Fire" won that year's scribe award for Best Audio Presentation. Before assuming charge of Dark Shadows, he was a significant contributor to diverse other Big Finish and BBC audio series, most significantly Doctor Who, on both fiction and non-fiction releases. Until 2015, David was a producer at RNIB Talking Books, producing, directing and editing accessible audio productions of diverse written works. He has also released a number of print, audiobook and audio drama titles through his own What Noise and Head Music imprints (www.whatnoise.co.uk).In addition to all these talking books, and audio drama and documentary work, David has worked on mainstream music video projects including "Warriors' Dance" by the Prodigy and "The Night Sky" (promo and accompanying documentary pieces) by Keane, and a number of short movies, including the award-winning "Speechless". He has undertaken forensic sound restoration, sound editing, mixing and music composition work on DVD projects for diverse clients.
