CurrentProvided strategies to minimise pain, promote function and quality of life in 7 different residential aged care sites in Hobart.Assessment and review of resident pain using Abbey or Modified Verbal Brief Pain Inventory and incorporating this into care plans. Care plans to reduce pain and boost quality of life could include: therapeutic massage, TENS, mindfulness meditation, progressive muscle relaxation, reminiscence therapy, application of hand splints, physical exercise, gardening and scooter training. Reminiscence therapy included the following topics art, music, wildlife, photography, aviation and careers, this used a variety of props including books, you-tube clips, pianos, photographs and model aeroplanes. Minimised the risk of falls by running balance/exercise classes and completing both falls and mobility assessments. Implementing falls reduction recommendations for example the use of a sensor beam or 4 Wheeled Walker. Regular mobility reviews and the completion of mobility charts in each resident’s room provided care staff with guidance so that current levels of mobility can be maintained for as long as possible and the risk of falls reduced.Competent with various documentation systems including Autumn care, I care and Lee care so that accurate and timely documentation supported quality care.Being a mobile OT I am proficient at adjusting to frequent changes in priorities at very short notice and can adjust my schedule accordingly. This may occur it co-workers take sick leave or other unforeseen circumstances.

Provide physical exercise and cognitive activities such as quizzes and word finding gamesto promote functional independence of residents using person centred principles. This prepares them for home or aged cared facilities. Created a therapy board to support hand function.
