About David Devinney

I have 5 years in the area of operations and NOC experience. I then worked approximately 9 years doing systems support and development for VTAM and NCP as well as project management and systems engineering. After that I was promoted to management and managed teams of 5 to 35 people doing mostly management of large to small disconnect orders. I was then advised we needed to open a low cost center in Slovakia. Senior management and I recruited a manager(my replacement), and then we started recruiting a team. The colleges are in the eastern part of the country and the businesses were primarily located in Bratislava in the far west of the country. We recruited, interviewed, and hired a team of 15. That was enough to start off. I then started bringing my team leads from the US over to start training their replacements. After a few months the Slovakian team was ready so I laid off my US team. My VP kept me to support the Slovaks as needed. I was then offered several jobs and since I love to learn new things, I joined the operational architect team. After a couple years we formed a system integrators team with IBM and I was offered a role as a Solutions Architect on the IBM integration team. In the deals IBM would handle the data centers and we would do the networking. I got requirements and pulled together teams of aligned partners. It would range from 6-8 to over 20 teams. I met with them told them what I needed and asked them to agree to support and at what cost. It would either be project funding or adding people to a lifecycle team. I would handle negotiations if I had cost constraints and eventually get support from everyone so I would proceed with writing a statement of work and use modeling to determine costs. I would then hand the package to Sales to present to IBM. If I needed to go explain or answer client questions I would travel and bring any SMEs if needed based on customer concerns. Deals would run from a $1m or so up to my largest which was $2.2b. I won several awards including the Diamond Club. This was normally for Sales but was eventually offered to non-Sales. The criteria to even be considered was being rate in the top 1% of the top 1%. Senior VPs make the ultimate decision. When I went there were 6 technical and about 650 Sales Reps. It was an honor. I also once received a Service Excellence Award. You have to be nominated by a higher level employee, approved by a VP and then the SVPs vote. About 30 are given out company wide every quarter. I was the featured winner the quarter I won. I have a lot to offer so take a chance. Thanks!

Team Leader of the disconnect team. In the 1980’s and 1990’s IBM was focused on adding new customers. All new teams just handled add-ons.
