Director of Materials Management (2001–2017)Hallmark Health SystemAs system director, I implemented sound material management practices necessary to improve financial performance and streamline operations within the Hallmark system, with responsibility for $30 million in purchases annually involving multiple locations in more than seven communities. Additionally, I oversaw purchasing, inventory, receiving and distribution, and mailroom, printing and patient transport departments. In this role I reported to the senior vice president and chief financial officer and managed a multi-tiered staff of 26 FTEs. • Standardized products, services and procedures resulting in significant procurement cost reduction• Direct responsibility for all capital budget functions• System administrator for Strata Decision software, responsible for upgrades, problem solving, reports, user access, system-wide training for all user access• Direct management responsibility for a $25 million annual capital budget• Implemented Supply Chain Management strategic plan involving key stakeholders, including trustees, clinical staff, hospital administration, medical staff, and senior management; attained best in class status measured within like peer group healthcare systems• Implemented a comprehensive vendor management program enhancing overall control, including security and corporate compliance• Oversaw contracts involving facility acquisitions and departmental moves, including capital costs associated with building modifications, retrofitting, and updates• Implemented successful value analysis team/process • Developed a talented, forward-thinking materials management leadership team• Served as the system logistics officer for Hallmark’s emergency preparedness team• Developed and implemented various inventory and distribution process improvements including a unique bar coding system

Hallmark Health System (Melrose-Wakefield, Lawrence Memorial, Whidden Memorial, and Malden Hospitals)In this four-hospital, system-wide leadership role, I was responsible for all functions and staff of purchasing, inventory, receiving and distribution, printing, and mail room functions at all campuses and satellite facilities.

I was responsible for the seamless merger of two separate materials management departments and integration of accounts payable to purchasing. The merger transition involved revising all processes, procedures, and physical space; training staff in new procedures; introducing new policies; and authoring operating manuals for staff.

In this role I managed all materials functions and staff including buying, vendor negotiations, contract negotiations, with additional responsibility for mail room and printing services.

I was responsible for the timely flow of materials, including all buying responsibilities and Storeroom management including receiving, inventory and distribution functions from a designed and built offsite location.
