5 year secondment post.

I do a lot of work with Associate Prof Min-Fu Hsieh on marine renewables and electrical machines here. We've published a lot together and they treat me very well. I've also worked with Prof M.-.C. Tsai too who first invited me to NCKU.

I started as a Senior Lecturer and was promoted to Associate Professor at the end of 2009.

I worked for Prof TJE Miller for two years then started my own research projects when I became an SL at Glasgow in 2001. I developed projects in the area of electrical machine design and drives. I edited and was an author on a book on bearingless electrical machines with Prof Akira Chiba and his team in Japan. I have published over 100 technical papers, most since 2001. I've done lots of work with several companies and delivered several seminars on electrical machine design. I have expertise in using Prof Miller's software SPEED including scripting and automated design algorithms. I have great experience in applying FEA to machine design and analysis problems. Also developed an interest in renewable energy systems, particularly sea wave energy. I made a substantial contribution to the 2008 RAE.

I did work using FEA on a flux reversal type of machine.

Not good engineering dept and I soon realised it was time to move on. I continued to work on condition monitoring of electrical machine and developed several new courses.

I started research work on condition monitoring projects with Prof Bill Thomson.
