Develop and drive a digital strategy for Astrix, focusing on the planning, development and delivery of innovative technology solutions using the latest approaches for both clients in the life science and process industries as well as the Astrix team.

Research and development informatics consulting services for clients in the life science, chemical and consumer goods industries from early stage biotechs to top-20 multi-national pharmaceutical companies. Led multiple engagements to provide solution and data architectures, system assessments and capability roadmaps, information life-cycle architectures, and system integration designs.Deep experience in creating data and solution architectures that span multiple programs and functions across large organizations to increase R&D operational efficiency and in support of critical data science initiatives to extract more value from investments in data.Experience in digital transformation initiatives addressing the overall life-cycle of R&D data to support early research, product development and scale-up, and data-driven manufacturing. Significant experience working with a wide variety of commercial applications in the R&D data management space, including ELNs, LIMS, CDS, LES, and SDMS implementations for both validated GxP and research use. Directed application architecture, design, development and support for IT systems used by corporate functions, including bms.com and country-specific internet sites, mobile applications, and systems for legal, compliance, financial services, treasury, and EH&S. Managed the development and support for cross-divisional enterprise IT platforms and services, including systems integration, EDI, ETL, BPMS, RPA, data migration, ITSM, regulatory document management, records archiving and application retirement, and application monitoring and centralized testing services. Accountable for an organization of approximately 300 people with an annual budget of approximately $35m.

Responsible for information systems architecture, design and engineering teams for the BMS research, pharmaceutical development, and exploratory clinical areas. Established a set of strategic R&D Architecture programs to develop cross-cutting capabilities to support the BMS R&D strategy, provide opportunities for simplification of the informatics environment, and improve project implementation efficiency.Restructured a single internal software development group into discipline-based teams, streamlined the engineering infrastructure and improved resource management, planning, and execution. Established and presented BMS IT-wide Software Architecture Forums to promote awareness and understanding of emerging technologies and leading-edge software development architecture and design patterns, including sessions on information architecture, event and process-driven architecture, asynchronous messaging, and RESTful design.

Responsible for defining the informatics strategy and delivering the portfolio of systems for the pre-clinical and veterinary science organizations. Created the first world-wide integrated information strategy for both the pre-clinical and veterinary science organizations, delivering a roadmap to prioritize and guide multiyear projects that delivered major savings in reduction of redundant work and digitization of work processes and records.Defined and directed a major program to overhaul instrument data archival capabilities across all of research.Introduced a new electronic laboratory notebook for research biology activities, establishing a development partnership with a commercial vendor to jointly implement ADME/T capabilities.

Responsible for software product architecture, structure and strategy. Managed product management amd in-bound marketing activities. Chief Architect for Symyx Software, including Symyx Notebook, Laboratory Execution and Analysis software, Experimental Logistics, and Decision Support product lines.

Overall business responsibility for software division of Symyx Technologies. Led the strategic and product integration from the acquisitions of IntelliChem and Synthematix by Symyx. Directed architecture and software design activities.

Responsible for software development for internal and commerical use and IT/MIS services. Lead developer for the data-warehouse application server and contributory programmer on client applications. Oversaw resource and project management of computing teams assigned to Symyx research groups.
