I am a developer/ aspiring data scientist with a passion for ETL, Data Analysis, or any other software activity that puts me in the world of data. Using skills I've developed through both my experience and education, I strive to bring my best to work every day as a Database Developer at Applied Underwriters. With Applied, I help the development of the database by using SQL stored procedures to import, clean, and validate data.I am talented in a wide array of scripting languages such as R, Python, SQL, and Java to name a few. I will say that I declare Python to be the greatest programming language to know when working with big data, and I have yet to hear a convincing argument to the contrary. My strongest skills are my familiarity with technologies that are conducive to working with data in its various forms. This includes Pandas, Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, Spark, and Beautiful Soup just to name a few, My position out of University was at General Motors, where I spent most of my time working on ETL using Apache Spark, (Java Spark, although I prefer Pyspark.) I also did quite a bit of data analysis at General Motors, which developed my proficiencies in both SQL and Microsoft PowerBI. Working with the data and figuring out new connections became my passion, and I am so grateful for my time at GM that introduced me to the field. Around this time, we started experimenting with machine learning, and my interest in AI/ML was born.In May of 2023, I began a Master's degree in Data Science at Texas Tech University, which was completed in May of 2024. Through this program, I learned how to use R, how to implement machine learning models, and how to collect and interpret data. I was able to implement my new skills almost immediately as I learned them.I would be remiss if I didn't mention my undergraduate education. While I didn't end up becoming a Nobel Prize-winning physicist as I had planned at age 20, I did pick up many skills studying physics that I use regularly. The mathematical reasoning and problem-solving process have been an essential boon to me in my career.
