My current role is head of UK Wholesale Casualty, managing a team of 9 people. Providing oversight, guidance and support to enable them develop and grow. I actively manage relationships with our panel of existing brokers and insurers and am always looking to develop new connections.

Provided broking and placing services to our panel of brokers whilst also supporting the head of the Casualty team in all team and management duties.

LMR and the wholesale book of business were purchased by GRP on the 1st May 2022. I was transferred, along with the majority of the LMR team to Lonmar Global Risks (a subsidiary of GRP). My first task was to oversee the successful integration and smooth transition of the team to Lonmar. There were a lot of changes to consider and implement, with the team effectively starting from scratch, albeit with an establish book of renewal business. My day to day included: Working closely with the finance director to ensure that budgets were achieved and premium issues were resolved promptly, keeping a close eye on any potential bad debt. I handled all aspects of the producing broker agency process, assisted in the implementation of new insurer TOBAs and managed the lineslip & binder process for the team. Liaised with other teams within Lonmar, dealt with issues arising from the LMR team and acted as a point of contact for the compliance and central operations functions. I produced and analysed relevant reports to ensure the team had oversight and insight in to what they are doing and how they are doing it. I also managed, reported and oversaw any potential complaints, breaches and E&O's for LMR.

Following the sale of JLT to Marsh, I took on the role of Business Development Executive so that I could assist the team with generating new enquiries and retaining those policies that we already held. Utilising my extensive knowledge of working within the Lloyd's and London environment and also look to manage and establish new relationships with producing brokers. Unfortunately, this role was hampered somewhat by the Covid pandemic.

My first task as Operations Manager was to oversee the transfer and integration of London Market Risks from Thistle Insurance Services to JLT Specialty Limited. This involved changing systems, process and procedures and developing new relationships internally. This was an extensive project and came with many challenges. Day to day my role involved: Monitoring workflows, EoC and CC figures to ensure adequate standards maintained, monitoring processes and procedures for efficiency, liaising with the IBA team (offshore and in London), monitoring bad debt and premium issues. Providing a point of reference for the Compliance, Central Operations and offshore processing team. Handling complaints and potential breaches, notifying and monitoring them as appropriate. Aiding in the setting, implementation and achievement of monthly and, ultimately annual budgets. It was an extremely varied role and taught me a lot about the inner workings of a Lloyd's broker, giving me exposure to aspects of the business that I had never seen before.

Continued my role working as a member of the new business, wholesale casualty team, within Thistle Insurance Services, part of the JLT group. Working closely with colleagues, other teams, producing brokers and Underwriters, to develop new leads, source new enquiries and find a solution in the Lloyd's and London market for those enquiries. Following a restructure, I transferred to renewals, still as part of the casualty team. There I was responsible for all aspects of the renewal process for a specific book of business. At the same time, I worked closely with the former Operations Director in establishing TCF guidelines and implementation, whilst also supporting him in his day to day role and getting involved in various other projects to aid in the efficient operation and professional conduct of the team.

I began my insurance career as a trainee, within the UK wholesale, casualty team of London Market Risks, as a new business account handler. Provided support with general back up as well as helping the team to achieve the new business targets. Developed relationships with producing brokers, Underwriters and colleagues whilst also building up my knowledge of the Casualty market, intricacies of the particularly classes of business involved and proper working practices for a Lloyd's wholesale broker.
