Mr. Eckert is a nationally certified counselor, a certified rehabilitation counselor and a licensed mental health counselor in New York State. He has over 25 years of experience in a variety of clinical settings including 10 years as coordinator of mental health clinics in the Rochester area. In addition to managing mental health clinics, for over 2 decades Mr. Eckert functioned as a therapist specializing in family therapy with expertise in working with children with behavioral and learning difficulties. He also maintained a private practice for a number of years and specialized in couples counseling as well as therapy with adults presenting with a wide range of concerns. Focused experience also includes quality improvement, documentation standards and clinical design to improve service delivery. He received a Bachelor’s degree in psychology at Florida State University and a Master’s degree in Community Mental Health Counseling at the State University of New York in Brockport, New York. In his role on the Policy & Planning and Contract Management teams for the Monroe County Office of Mental Health, his dedication to person-centered practices is seen in contributions to a rapidly changing behavioral healthcare system. These experiences are also shared in his role as an Adjunct Professor teaching “Research and Program Evaluation” in the counseling Master’s program at St. John Fisher College and Medaille Univeristy, and he is also teaching students in the Master's in Counseling Education program at SUNY Brockport.

Mental Health Coordinator, Unity Behavioral Health. Responsible for coordinating the delivery of an array of mental health services in this urban setting through supervision of a multi-disciplinary team. This team includes: psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, nurses, masters level therapists and support staff. Sexual Behaviors Clinic and Domestic Violence Prevention Program fall under the responsibilities of this position. Also responsible for Utilization Review of outpatient mental health services, Quality Improvement implementation and monitoring and the integration of best practices approach to treatment. Provided residential counseling services and in-school support to children identified as emotionally disturbed in this local residential setting. Developed and implemented a Levels System which contributed to a 60% reduction in restraint times.
