• Primary technical contact for all aspects related to color for the manufacture of rigid and flexible PVC and CPVC compounds for the Geon Performance Materials division of PolyOne (seven plants globally). Service many markets including building and construction, electronics, appliance, medical, wire and cable, etc.• Supervise four Color Designers; document/review: safety, hiring, training, career planning, performance appraisals and discipline of associates. • Ensure adherence to established safety and quality procedures. Continuously look for ways to improve work practices in the labs and at the plants in order to make the labs/plants more efficient, use fewer resources, encourage cross training and foster team work. • Set up internal color matches to resolve color/processing issues at the plants and/or customers; communicate with requestors to clarify needs. Schedule color match priority for the color lab to meet due dates (100% on time delivery since May of 2012) while maximizing the labs efficiency and review completed matches for accuracy. • Color Management software: communicate with vendor any issues, updates or specific functions required. Perform beta testing of all new hardware/software versions and patches to ensure fluent integration when installed at the plant level. • Manage the colorant database, including colorant analysis/characterization for adding or replacing existing pigments for cost, supply and/or performance advantages. Establish cospec colorants and work with supply chain to establish exit strategies for existing colorants before launching cospec.• Schedule and attend meetings with colorant vendors and order colorants for evaluation. • Manage the accelerated and real time outdoor weathering of colorant evaluations and existing exterior compounds.• Participate in Manufacturing Scale-up Assessment• Participate in weekly technical conference calls to discuss new opportunities, customer complaints, plant concerns, etc.
