Product Manager
Hired as eConsult's first Product Manager with a remit to bring an evidence-based, analytical, and customer-centric approach to the development of new and existing software products within the NHS.Key achievements include:- delivery of a first-of-kind digital triage solution for Urgent and Emergency departments- delivery of a new patient-facing primary care application for the Bexley CCG- key player in developing a deep working relationship with NHS Digital - this lead to eConsult being the first Online Consultation provider to integrate with NHS Login, and also to be the first provider of online consultations within the NHS App (the app now accounts for nearly 10% of all eConsult usage)- helping to grow the product function to 8 people- spreading product thinking/approach across all teams and colleagues- helping the products develop and grow during the Covid pandemic (this saw customer numbers grow 3x in a couple of months, and usage grow 10x)
Senior Product Owner
I was employed as the Senior Product Owner, in part of a small, agile Product team for Pure360, a leading provider of email marketing solutions. At the timer, Pure360 was transitioning from a legacy to new product, the role involved clear understanding of existing software, and user needs, and I worked closely with all parts of the technology team and wider business.A key element of the role was continue to promote a user-focused, product-lead approach to how the software and features were designed and delivered. This involved supporting and working with the sales and account management functions, and spending time with users and customers to better understand the market, user needs and opportunities for Pure360.I also worked hard to promote agile, product-lead thinking internally, across all functions within the company, and helped arrange the first of Pure360's Hack Days.
Product Manager – E-Commerce & Identity
Managing Macmillan’s newly formed e-commerce & identity product stream which encompasses its multi-million Pound e-commerce application, registration and login, access control, and the provision of a behaviourally lead targeted advertising solution. My key goal is to consolidate the many sources of registration and profile data into one single customer view, driving up the level of registrations and logged in visits, with the ultimate goal of providing a platform from which Macmillan can help its advertising partners better reach its highly skilled and valuable audience. This goal is being achieved by moving away from bespoke, in-house solutions, and integrating market leading solutions from various providers (including Gigya, Krux, and Webtrends).
Product Manager
Product Manager for Macmillan's e-commerce product, which allows science professionals and interested members of the public to buy individual articles and subscribe to any of the c80 journals in the Nature/Macmillan portfolio.Bringing a commercially focussed, Agile Product Management approach to this part of the business to increase conversion rates and revenues, and at the same time spreading a data/test-driven approach to product management/development within the wider business. Also responsible for a number of smaller, marketing/sponsorship products within the group.
Product Manager
Product Manager for The Guardian's on-line Jobs product - a business that provides significant revenues for the group.First priorities were to understand the business internally and the wider market, including competitors, and to forge relationships with the key stakeholder groups: commercial, sales, admin, technology, and marketing.I defined a product strategy and vision based on user research, analytics and by studying the wider jobs market and user behaviour/trends. I identified two main areas of change in the way job seekers were finding jobs: the move to mobile and the growing use of social tools (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook etc). With very limited tech resources we delivered some key improvements to the current product including a new version of the mobile site and an overhaul of the recruiter services site, as well as numerous enhancements to the overall job seeker experience. We also removed features that were no longer used (based on data/user research) to streamline the product and reduce the support/tech-debt element of maintaining such a large product with limited technical resource. The team worked to an Agile framework, and used an iterative approach of measurement, discovery, prototyping, user-testing, deployment and re-measuring to ensure success. To meet the sizeable challenges the product faced in the medium term (for example, the need for responsive design and a new, more flexible recruiter offering), the decision was reached with the commercial team and the wider business to out-source to a SaaS provider, enabling the product to continue to grow.
It Director (Non-Exec)
Providing business and product consultancy fort his Kent-based start-up to define the business strategy, sales model, route-to-market and on-line job board product. The goal was simple: to become the biggest and best contract-only jobs board that serviced all industry sectors.Understanding the needs and behaviours of contract workers as opposed to permanent employees was key to delivering a product for these users.
Business Relationship Management

Roles include day-to-day account management, regular account performance reviews, requirements gathering and specification writing, sales and revenue management. This role makes good use of my technical (development) background, my analytical skills and my friendly and customer-focused approach to relationship management.
