David is a Chartered Management Accountant (FCMA) and Chartered Internal Auditor (CFIIA). He is founder, co-owner and director of a property investment business (Mewstone Property Investments Ltd - MPIL), specialising in the provision of short term fully furnished accommodation Bristol to corporate clients, executives, and professionals. MPIL also invests in commercial to residential property developments, providing capital for both purchase and development on a B2B basis. In addition to a small (but perfectly formed) NED portfolio within the "not for dividend" sector, David is the founder of Mewstone Professional Services Ltd (MPSL) - a risk management consultancy. This utilises his experience in corporate governance, property management, and operational risk gained in a mix of FTSE100, FTSE250, not for profit organisations, and private equity funded businesses in the UK and overseas. In addition to internal audit & risk management based consulting, MPSL provides operating leases for various classes of assets.David held Financial Controller roles at Tesco plc both within the UK and France, and within Kingfisher plc before moving into Internal Audit & Risk management where for over 17 years he held Chief Audit Executive / Head of Internal Audit roles at Superdrug Stores plc, Dairy Crest plc, Allders Department Stores Ltd, The DX Group, and Travis Perkins plc. During this time he was a Council member and director of The Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors.In addition to Independent Member roles (similar to NED) within the UK NHS and Aster Group Ltd, David is an assessor for Chartered By Experience membership of the CIIA and also undertakes External Quality Assessments of internal audit functions for the Chartered Institute.The Mewstone SSAS ( to which David is a trustee) provides funding for commercial developments.In his spare time David is the Treasurer of The PCC of Keevil St. Leonard’s. He also enjoys offshore sailing and skiing - very risk adverse - and hosts a wine appreciation society within his village.
