About David Finch

I am an experienced global investor covering North American, Global, Emerging and Frontier equity markets for over thirty years.As a fund manager I am a 'fundamentalist', usually taking a longer term investment horizon, identifying non-consensual catalysts and investing in undervalued stocks / asset classes, be they classic value plays, long term growth stories or just plain discounts to fair value.I have a strong contrarian streak that is tempered by a pragmatic nature, as timing can be everything in successful investing. I do believe in diversification as a guard against unforeseen individual blow ups, but believe prudently concentrated portfolios ultimately drive outperformance. Benchmarks should be seen but not heard. I am a patient investor and not always prepared to bolt at the first wobble, especially if I believe in a business model, management motivation or longer term theme. But I will take my losses and learn from mistakes (damn it) when I have to. I enjoy mentoring, leading and interacting with other investment professionals, but can also operate quite happily independently. It usually makes good sense however to test one's opinions on other trusted professionals.For the future I seek to continue my investment career in a capacity that fulfils my passion for investing, leads me to learn about new companies, industries, countries and asset classes, and to manage portfolios / products / teams that drive outperformance and exceed client expectations.Specialties: US/North America, Global, Emerging Markets, Long/Short, Gold, Financials, REITS and Consumer Staples
