Applied Sports Science Intern
Sport Scientist And Strength And Conditioning Coach For Men’S Soccer
-Facilitated on-field warm-up sessions for 30 athletes in preparation for practice/games and coordinated with coaches to implement active recovery sessions for athletes with high training loads from games.-Conducted on field monitoring by collecting GPS data (Catapult) for all practices and games. Collaborated with the coaching staff and Team Lead to coordinate weekly approaches to training and provided feedback on the status of athletes based on obtained monitoring data.-Developed and delivered performance nutrition presentation and handout that covered nutrition topics which included fueling for performance, nutrition’s role in recovery, hydration strategies, fluid intake, and nutrient timing. Conducted individual nutrition assessments and provided athlete’s feedback to enhance their approach to fueling based on body composition data and dietary records submitted by the athletes.-Coordinated with athletic training staff to modify existing performance testing protocol to assess progress of rehabbing athletes. -Collected ultrasound, jump, and isometric mid-thigh pull data to assess changes attributed to the resistance training program for 13 weightlifting athletes. Conducted analysis on ultrasound data to assess pennation angle, thickness, and crosssectional area of muscle to evaluate structural changes. Data collected from athlete monitoring sessions was shared with coaches via Smartabase.-Collaborated with the coaching staff and sport scientists to coordinate athlete testing sessions in addition to conducting analysis and return of data promptly (within 24 hours).

-Coordinated with Performance Director and Lead Performance Coach to implement a strength training program for 11 triathletes.-Implemented testing into annual training plan to examine changes in triathletes’ force production capabilities, rate of force development, ability to use the Stretch Shorting Cycle, and track fatigue. This enabled us to update our training plan if necessary and record athlete progress. The Head Coach was provided with information from testing sessions in a data return presentation. Data collection was performed using LabVIEW and ForceDecks software to gather data on different types of jumps and isometric tests executed by triathletes.
Assistant Boys Cross Country And Sprints/Jumps Coach
-Planned speed focused training program for short sprints, drills and progressions for horizontal and vertical jumping events, and weight circuits to enhance athletes’ strength and reduce injury.
