Capricorn Society Ltd was originally established as a co-operative in 1974 to assist automotive repair & service businesses. Capricorn is now a public company limited by shares registered in Western Australia that operates on co-operative principles. It is the Southern Hemisphere’s largest company operating in the automotive parts buying industry on such co-operative principles and acts as an intermediary in the automotive value chain by facilitating strategic relationships between Capricorn's Members and leading automotive suppliers. It has grown to over 30,000 automotive repair businesses as members that purchase over AU$3.7 billion in parts every year from more than 2,000 preferred suppliers in Australia and New Zealand. Reporting directly to the Board, I am accountable for the operations of the Capricorn business, and all its subsidiary companies. I am responsible for setting the vision and the strategy for the organsation, in liaison with the Board, while championing Capricorn’s core values and heritage. I lead the executive team to ensure they drive the successful execution of business plans and budgets, fostering a member focused culture, where business is conducted in the spirit of Capricorn’s values based ethos. I’m responsible for building strong and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders including the Board, shareholders, members, suppliers, regulators and alliance/JV partners to deliver on short and long term member, employee and financial goals.

Reporting directly to the Group CEO, as CEO Automotive I was responsible for the leadership and direction of the Automotive, Financial Services and Travel business units. I oversaw, developed and led the business unit strategic planning process, created the vision for and arranged the business unit’s structure in alignment with the effective execution of strategies to achieve profit and growth targets.

Reporting to the CEO and a member of Capricorn's Executive Leadership Team, as General Manager Automotive I was accountable for the development, maintenance and management of the overarching Member and Supplier strategy, the overall management of trading terms, product and service performance and the management of the Automotive business unit. My accountabilities also included developing and driving growth initiatives and expansion into new markets throughout its three countries of operation - Australia, New Zealand and the Republic of South Africa (exited RSA in March 2014)

Supply Direct is a wholly owned subsidiary of Western Australian based listed company Ausdrill Ltd. The company specialize in the procurement and delivery of materials, goods and services of a diverse nature to global regions. In particular, Supply Direct provides a single source of supply to major mining projects in remote locations worldwide. As Group General Manager I oversaw offices in Perth, South Africa, United Kingdom and Ghana (West Africa). I was accountable for the financial performance of the company and responsible for business growth in new and existing market places.

Coventry Group is a Western Australian based Public Listed Company with operations throughout Australia and New Zealand. As Group General Manager I led the Western region automotive division and was responsible and accountable for the financial performance of the division, marketing, distribution, personnel, and overall operations. The role was responsible for the development of short and long range plans and policies, the assessment of present and future needs, trends, problems and profit opportunities of the division. Working with the company executive team, especially in the area of preparation of forecasts and budgets to meet the overall objectives of Coventry Group, I also maintained appropriate communication links between support services and business units for advice and counsel. During this period I was also appointed an Associate Director of the Company.

The key responsibilities of this role included planning, development, implementation and assessment of marketing programs that complimented the strategic business plans of the automotive division, and providing support to the sales management teams in each state. This also involved the management of key national customer accounts and liaising with key suppliers.

Motor Traders was a wholly owned Division of Coventry Group. As State Manager I was responsible for the operations of the state sales office and distribution facility and 5 metropolitan and 3 rural branches employing a total of 230 full time employees.

This was a newly created position, which provided immediate assistance to the State Manager and included reporting on sales and profit performance, reviewing company income and expenses, planning branch and departmental sales budgets, management of the occupational safety & health program and involvement in the Enterprise Bargaining Working Committee.

Accountable for achieving sales targets for South Australia and Northern Territory, constantly monitoring branch and departmental sales and profitability and establishing product support/sales promotion for trade clients, dealer networks and government departments.
