The PCF (Parts Co-ordination fixture) is a fixture than can hold all the Body-In-White (BIW) parts of a vehicle independently and simultaneously. It is a tool used in the development of the vehicle so that each part can assessed in relation to its mating parts so that all issues can be identified and resolved early and promptly. Responsibilities• Support design reviews. Supply all required information (e.g., list of parts to be held, process, details on any non-process operations required, etc.) as well as continued support through weekly meetings.• Plan and deliver buy-off events. Confirm location, ensure that all required parts, equipment and people were available. Feedback issues and concerns to the supplier and work for a prompt and effective solution.• Plan and deliver PCF build events. Decide best location (home plant or abroad), ensure all required parts, equipment and people were able to support. Document and raise all issues identified.• Support the resolution of issues identified. Use dimensional inspection reports to understand errors, adapt the build plan to support further investigations and any supplier visits.• Support both steel and aluminium projects

Castle Bromwich

The graduate scheme had four 3 month placements during the first year before having a home role in the second year. The placements were in trim and final facilities, paint shop, MSO (Manufacturing stampings office) and BIW process before spending a year in DPV (dimensional and process verification). During my time, I wrote and commissioned all the programs for Gap Gun for the latest vehicle. I also supported the PCF (Parts Co-ordination Fixture) Engineer during PCF events.
