I am the IT manager for a mid-sized company where I am responsible for maintaining all computer systems within the company. I am responsible for all LAN/WAN hardware and associated purchasing of all software and hardware. I manage a small staff that supports our internal clients / business needs while also supporting our external customers related to our web presents.. I have created processes for code development, promotion and source code control, a backup and disaster recovery process, and a security policies. My technical accomplishments include:• Migrated over 50% of the physical servers to Microsoft’s hyper-V. With an aging server environment where the average server was 7+ years and a limited budget, I retired the ageing servers by replacing them with Hyper-V Servers. • Segmented the flat network from a super-net flat layout into a routed, secured multi-ring environment by splitting out the Servers into a production ring and backbone, we controlled user ring accessing the servers.• Implemented application code versioning with Team Foundation Server. This allowed for the implemention of code version control and code promotion from Development, into pre-production and finally into production.• Changed from being in a completely reactive environment to a monitored, maintained network through the use of What’s UP IP monitoring using SNMP and scripts to keep metrix’s on the network utilization.• Implemented a Security patch through the use of WSUS to ensure that all workstations have the latest security patches along with Symantec Endpoint protection, and network shaping, security risks and viruses have been minimized.

My technical responsibilities include:• Mentor staff on technical issues to help develop their professional skills.• Maintained the security for all internal, remote VPN access, Virus prevention via Symantec’s Enterprise 10.x, firewall rules / routing, security and general network access.• Ensure that the data center is operational 7/24• Manage the security patch rollouts to servers and desktops throught Microsofts WSUS services• Hands on manager helping maintain performance and tuning for the companies internal application databases while managing our external client projects related to database migrations and performance tuning.

I was the technical team lead for the Corporate DBA group with responsibilities for world wide support of development of i2 products. This included:• Installing, creating and tuning of databases in both the Unix and NT environment. This also included applying any patches to the databases that may be necessary.• Performing imports / migrations of schema for the developers and assisting in the troubleshooting of issues related to performance or schema errors.• Ensuring the database environment was secure, backed up, and had lights out monitoring 7/24.• Traveled to Bagalore, India for an extended stay to setup the remote data center that include SUN, AIX and HP Unix environments for Oracle and Windows 2000 for SQL Server.

I was the primary architect, and senior DBA for Webb Cooley in the reengineering of the companies core applications (Centurion) from a Windows 95 / Access 95 / AS-400 environment to a client/server environment using Visual Basic 5.0 and Microsoft SQL 7.0 / 6.5.
