Building and leading an Engineering team to develop the new Aventra rail vehicle platform in terms of overall design integration and installation, including Carbody and Interiors. Developing the overall technical expertise and capacity of the Integration team (100 heads). Establishing an offshore Best Cost engineering team (130 heads).Achievements:• Ontime release of the 2 year Crossrail vehicle design programme with 75% reduction in production queries• Built the onshore and offshore integration teams, driven and motivated, reducing design phase by 3 months• Successful design completion of the follow-on Aventra projects LOTrain and East Anglia• Increased the integration team Best Cost effort to 40% in first 12 months and to 65% in the following year

Planning, leading and development of the Engineering team to deliver the new design for 93 new DMU’s to QTC.Achievements:• Release of design for the first vehicle delivery to meet customer timescale and agreed engineering budget (£5M)• Resolution of major design concern with exhaust, by detailed technical analysis with specialist teams to avoid delays & redesign

Delivery of the London Underground (LUL) District Line Stock refurbishment designs to QTC. Leading a team of 20 Design Engineers, accountable for overall technical requirements.Achievements:• Successfully obtaining LUL Chief Engineers acceptance of the trains who had very demanding requirements.

Design release of Electrostar GoVia contract of 700 cars, 25kV Overhead Line and 750V DC. Leading a team of 3 Project Engineers with overall technical responsibility of the EMU. Ensuring all engineering deliverables met customer requirements, within the project plan and budget.Achievements:• Successfully releasing the design to QTC with customer acceptance at first build.

Design release of the Electrostar c2c (phase 2) order comprising 28x4 car, 25kV OHL EMU’s. Managing all engineering deliverables of the project to ensure design compliance with customer requirements.Achievements:• Completion of designs released to agreed plan and budget.• Successfully gaining Engineering Acceptance Certification.

Leading the Electrical Integration team (20 heads from UK, Sweden and Germany) of a Metro platform development programme for international projects. Creation of technical specifications, bill of materials, design and validation of all the electrical systems. Project planning and budgeting. Achievements:• Implementation of the Metro platform as a major input into a new London Underground fleet of 1000 vehicles.

Responsible for the Class 170/5 DMU electrical engineering systems design, managing a team of 3 engineers. Achievements:• Validation of the new electrical systems in order to satisfy the Technical Requirements of the customer.• Successful compatible operation, first time right, between the new 17x DMUs and 14x / 15x fleets.

TecQuipment are a global leader in manufacturing training equipment for universities world-wide, covering all engineering domains.I was initially an electrical apprentice, becoming responsible for the project management, costing, design, testing, commissioning and training of Computer Integrated Manufacturing systems, to meet customer requirements and budget. Systems included Robotic Control, CNC Machines, Automatic Inspection and Process Monitors.
