Molecular geneticist with over 12 years of experience in laboratory research and program management.Dr. Glasbrenner’s background and expertise includes molecular biology, genetics, virology, biosurveillance, bioinformatics, microbiology, and biochemistry. During his employment at Battelle, Dr. Glasbrenner has been Task Lead, Study Director, PM and PI on numerous studies for the Biodefense community; working with BARDA, DHS S&T, DARPA, and several commercial clients. Some recent examples of projects he has led include: acting as the biological subject matter expert (SME) for the development of a semi-mobile laboratory for the Army, Program Manager (PM) for the analysis of samples for the presence of toxins using next generation sequencing and qPCR, the Study Director for the biochemical testing of expired therapeutic antibodies for the Department of Defense (DoD), an SME instructor for an advanced analytical science course for National Guard Bureau members, Task Lead for quality assurance testing of commercial toxin enzymatic detection assays, and Principal Investigator (PI) on a study developing a novel iterative bioinformatic tool for the rapid automated identification and annotation of virus etiology. He also has over eight years experience working in academic laboratories where his research focused on the bioinformatic identification of neural guidance regulators and subsequent cellular characterization of their function, isolation and characterization of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, and cryo-EM analysis of archaeal hyperthermophiles.
