Led the turnaround on #9 Machine Area through focused troubleshooting, employee engagement, team development, top to bottom communication and personal dedication to the process. The hard work paid off with a 10% increase in performance. The area was set to undergo significant capital upgrades when the mill closure due to market conditions occurred.In addition to leading the #9 Line, I was selected to be a member of the joint union management safety team and volunteered to be an instructor at the annual Safety University where my course was recognized as the best presentation in the history of the event.

I had the opportunity to act as the Lead Superintendent in the paper mill while focusing individually on two of the production lines during my time at the mill. In both cases, we were able to improve performance on the lines (5% improvement on PM 1!) while increasing engagement, focusing on safety and maintaining the high standards of product quality demanded by our customers

Led the line through several significant quality investigations and safety improvement initiatives. Took on the training program for all required OSHA requirements.

I was recruited internally to transfer to the Bucksport mill to fill a position as a Front Line Leader on #2 Line. Led the consolidation effort as we reduced the number of on-shift FLL's. This part of my career was both challenging and rewarding as I honed my skills as a leader, learned the ebb and flow of shift work and developed the necessary troubleshooting skills and initiative to survive on shift.

Entered the Navy after graduation from Penn State on NROTC scholarship. Qualified to enter Nuclear program and volunteered for Submarine force. Served 3.5 years on USS Grayling out of Charleston SC. Led my divisions through two ORSE cycles and served as an ORSE EOOW. Qualified as Ship's Engineer by Naval Reactors. Completed a shore tour at Groton CT as an Instructor Submarine School. Taught advanced communications courses to prospective department heads and basic navigation and operations courses to junior officers
