Professor Goodwin has been appointed Dean of the University of Nottingham Business School in Malaysia. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for the Nottingham University Business School in Malaysia and is responsible for shaping and implementing the University's strategies in education, research, knowledge exchange, student experience and global engagement. David's research and teaching interests straddle business and law, encompassing international business, business consulting, ethics and governance, social procurement, maritime law and alternative dispute resolution. Previously he held academic roles at Victoria University Business School, where he was Head, Industry & External Engagement (April 2019 to March 2023), and at RMIT University where he was MBA Director (March 2016 to March 2019) and Director, Juris Doctor Program (June 2015 to March 2016). Prior to commencing his academic career, David worked as a Barrister (from 2010) and as a senior executive and corporate lawyer with publicly listed corporations. He was Vice President Corporate Affairs of Singapore’s Neptune Orient Lines (2005-10) and Executive Vice President of Australia’s BlueScope Steel (2000-05). Since 2015 David has maintained a part-time practice as a Barrister, Arbitrator and Mediator, specialising in commercial law and international business.
