Providing data analysis support to Amlin’s Reinsurance and Policy Department my primary goal was to develop a reporting solution using MS Access to support the Reinsurance Treaty Renewal for Amlin’s Property account. The Property account is managed through several business units at Amlin UK via Commercial Combined and Property Package portfolios. Incorporating all of the property business written across these portfolios necessitated in amalgamating several data sources into a singular dataset which could then be reported on. To achieve this goal the following was necessary:• Analyse and modify existing Amlin Transaction System Access based Extracts. In doing this I managed to improve query performance on the existing extracts by 12 hours.• Create an Access database to support the import and management of Amlin’s Binder business submitted via Excel Bordereaux by relevant Cover holders. The submitted bordereaux varied in quality not only in data but format as well. Therefore, I created a generic routine that required a template to be setup via an access form that supported the import of each bordereaux for a relevant Cover holder via text readers and DAO record sets..An error logging routine within this process reported on the success / failure of the imports.• Develop a semantic view (Pseudo Dimensional Model) of the combined data sources in order to develop Property account summary reports. These reports, primarily cross tabs, numbering around 20, provide analysis over the Property account via Cover, Occupation Risk, Sum Insured Banding and occupation.• Develop an access form to automate the production of the Property Report Pack according to user selected filters via Drop Down and List Boxes. This form also allows the reports to be produced to email, PDF, Print Preview or Print directly to the printer dependant on user preference.• Liaise with the Reinsurance Team and Property Underwriters to review and discuss report accuracy and requirements

Created Evergreen IT in July 1999 in order to become a contractor IT specialist, with my last employers Westminster Motor Insurance offering my first contract. I worked full time with them up to December 2001 completing the development work I had commenced as an employee. During 2002, I supported the systems on a 2 day week basis and carried out intermittent project work for them until the end of 2002 when the company was purchased by the Santam Group. The Santam Group then engaged me for a further three years in a variety of System Conversion and Management Information Projects, specifically: Interim MI System Project – at the time of the takeover WMIA had no MI. This project was to provide the WMIA management with an overview of underwriting performance. Data Conversion Projects – develop extraction routines from the WMIA Evergreen systems so that data can be imported into the new WMIA Underwriting & Claims system for each insurance product type. Corporate Reporting – MIIC, ABI,FSA, LFCDA Data Warehouse / Business Intelligence Project WMIA Business Analyst for Prescient Business Technologies who were to develop the WMIA MI System using Dimensional Modeling Techniques, using SQL Server 2000 and Business Objects 6 technologies. Develop Extraction Routines from WMIA Evergreen systems (Based on ASE 11.5 DBMS) for data transformation and load to the warehouse. Data Integrity and Quality Assurance of the Warehouse and Business Objects Universe environment. Universe Design and Report Creation. MI Business Analyst / Data Steward Project Data Quality Assurance Train the business in the MI System Provide knowledge transfer of the MI system to ”power users” Liaise with all business leaders regarding their on-going MI requirements Work closely with statistician and external actuaries Deliver Reporting Packages to Business (Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly)

A founding board member, Flag Insurance was created to service and supply the niche Hire and Reward Insurance market, via a countrywide Authorised Representative network. Working closely with my business partners I was involved in creating the model of the business which included: Gaining FSA accreditation for General Insurance Broking. Creating a Niche Hire and Reward Insurer Panel. Working with specialist Service Providers to provide our prospective clients with First Notification of Loss, Finance Borrowing and Payment services. Creating the Authorised Representative Network, engaging various small businesses that had close associations with the Hire and Reward industry.To support the business model my brief was to design and develop a bespoke quotation and policy administration system that would incorporate the underwriting criteria of FIB’s insurer panel and service the needs and maintain control of the company’s Authorised Representatives. This included: FSA Annual Reporting / Declaration Developed Rating Engine for Quotation Purposes utilising Excel spreadsheets and Access database. Developed Policy Management System Developed Accounts Integration between external organizations for Premium Finance and Credit Card Income Collection Developed Sales Ledger Management Developed Claims Accident Notification Management Developed Authorised Representative Reporting Developed Dimensionally Modeled Data Marts for Policy Growth, Commission income KPIs

2006 to Date – the expansion of the Evergreen business commenced with network infrastructure installations for several small businesses where we managed 15 clients of varying sizes (5 desktops to 100 desktops), over 25 servers and 250 desktops. During this stage we: Installed 10 new Windows Small Business Server 2003 networks Migrated two Windows 2000 Server networks to Windows SBS 2003 Installed new CAT5 switched networks Built, Installed and Managed 100’s of new PCs Provided a managed remote network service to all of our clients Installed varying software packages Facilitated Domain Migration to Parent Company

Working for the Beacon Motor Syndicate and Direct Insurance Services I provided basic account services for our clients, i.e. banking cash, cheques and credit cards. Provided accounting reconciliations, query resolution and general office support to the accounts manager and other departments.

IT Analyst to write a new bespoke in-house underwriting and claims management system specifically for the niche Hire and Reward products to replace existing data entry Unix system. Achievements: Reviewed & Selected infrastructure platform and development tools (Citrix WInframe, Sybase ASE & Powerbuilder) Liaised with Product Vendors, Senior Management and Board Members. Created Initial Information System Implementation Costing, System Development Programme, System Function Specifications Documents for Board Approval Installed first CAT-5 Network and 25 user Windows Based Terminal Server Network, with diskless PCs  Designed Business Use Cases with PowerDesigner to generate Entity Relationships to support Business Specifications Created Databases to support Entity relationships Developed Front End Windows Form Based application to create, interrogate customer information – including quote, policy, claims and account management functions. Systems supported Premium Income Growth from £8million in 1998 to £20million in 2002.

Junior Programmer to Team Leader, working in the Accounts and Stats focused teams for Equity Red Star Motor Syndicate and Boncaster Limited for Private Motor. Achievements: Designed and developed First Data Marts for both businesses using Information Builders Focus Query technology. Developed Extraction routines from the OLTP systems (based on VAX RTM) both full and incremental builds. Developed Transformation and Load routines to populate the data marts. Developed Reporting Packs detailing high level KPI’s – Quotation Performance, Policy Growth Performance, Premium Income, Claims Experience and Loss Ratio by varying dimensions. Developed Fleet Claims Report Package for high net worth fleet customers that contained low level granular detail so customer could improve claims experience and policy premiums. Liaising with Business Decision Makers within all departments of the business with regards to their information needs. Managed team of five for 5 years to achieve above.
