  I owned a successful insurance agency in Aberdeen, Scotland from January 2000 until May 2019 and employed 2 members of staff. When I initially took over the agency in 2000, the agency network was owned by Westminster Taxi Insurance. A company set up by London cabbies to insure themselves which subsequently grew to encompass the whole of the UK, with agencies in all major cities. The agency network was sold on a couple of times, eventually landing in the hands of Clegg Gifford. They moved things forward and gave the agency network the opportunity to diversify and sell other forms of insurance, mostly motor trade.During my time, running this agency, I was responsible for marketing, administration of policies, handling claims, ensuring we remained FCA compliant and various other problems that might occur running a small insurance agency. It was challenging but rewarding. I decided to sell up in 2019 and become semi-retired.
