• Due to my Property Policy knowledge and previous management experience, I was promoted to manage the Property Risk Mortgages for Over 55’s team to cover a colleagues maternity leave.
• This team completes full title and property checks on all Later Life mortgage applications as well as having sign off on specific special mortgage offer conditions that we add to any relevant case.
• During this time, I have ensured the team have now produced standard operating processes for all of their tasks, including complex reviews of freehold and leasehold titles.
• I regularly partake in their daily tasks to ensure I have a very good and relevant understanding of their exact workloads.
• This led to a 36% increase in the number of applications the team can process day to day.
• I was also able to ensure that all team members have been cross trained on all tasks so there is greater flexibility within the team to deal with fluctuating work volumes across different propositions.

• Following on from the success of my role as Operations Team Manager I was asked to move into Nationwide’s Property Policy team to utilise the knowledge I had built up on the post valuation queries process and valuer’s.
• I was able to make risk-based decisions using personal autonomy on mortgage applications which required additional assessment and would fall into areas that were outside of policy or areas that we didn’t have any.
• During my time with the team day to day enquiries were also dealt with in a quicker and more efficient manner.
• During my time in this role, I was able to greatly improve my knowledge of the conveyancing process and our instructions to conveyancers. Using both my newly acquired and previous knowledge I was able to create.

• When Nationwide valuation panel management was bought in house along with my manager going on adoption leave for 12 months both my team and my responsibilities grew.
• I managed a team of 12 along with being responsible for the following processes: Post Valuation Queries (PVQ’s), valuation appeals, complaints, and escalated cases.
• I also had to cover managing our sister team, the valuation panel team, due to unforeseen absences from that team’s manager and effectively covered the Operations Manager role for this 12-month period.
• Most of my role was to identify areas of risk in relation to all types of valuation queries the team received, liaise with key stakeholders, and make decisions based on the identified risks.
• This role allowed me to make rationalised risk-based decisions that were not always within policy. I was also able to manage processes and make changes as and when I saw fit to ensure the team worked as efficiently as.

• As a member of the valuation services department within Nationwide my role was initially to obtain knowledge of the valuation process and to manage a team that included 2 direct reports.
• Following the decision to take valuation panel management in house for The Mortgage Works my team grew rapidly as did the requirement to implement a process for receiving, logging, and chasing PVQ’s within the team..
• This role allowed me to have the opportunity to be heavily involved in most aspects of the Management Information (MI) produced within valuation services on a weekly and monthly basis. I was also the key decision maker.

• I was promoted due to my performance in the Property Advisor role and was given control over 3 direct reports and specific clients.
• I was then able to implement and develop skills in business and management that I had learnt during my studies and put them straight into practice along with my knowledge of the job.
• This resulted in almost immediate success and when there were setbacks, I had the knowledge base to step back, analyse and come up with different strategies that solved these situations.
• I also carried out monthly appraisals with my direct reports to establish a successful working culture where they were aware of what I expected from them, and they had the support to succeed in their roles.
