During my time on placement with Novas I became competent with report writing and was entrusted with collecting rent from service users and ensuring the safe was balanced at night. I gained knowledge and confidence in carrying out key work sessions with clients. I became very familiar with undertaking holistic needs assessments and risk assessments with new clients. During my time I built up strong professional relationships with clients and staff and felt I made great progress in gaining key insights into the work. I also went on home visits, welfare meetings and I now feel that I have a much greater knowledge of the frontline work undertaken by a family support worker. I thoroughly enjoyed this placement as I got to work with the family unit helping me to understand the various family complexities and the challenges of working with different age groups and diverse cultures.

I was entrusted with supervising checkouts and closing up the cash office in the last three years of my ten years in this job. I was entrusted with money and built up a great rapport with both customers and colleagues in my time spent in this job.

During my time on placement I undertook many roles working with children aged between four to sixteen. I helped to run after school homework clubs and to organise various activities for the children. I built up great rapport with staff, service users and parents of the children. I brought energy to my work and built very strong professional relationships during my time on placement. I learned to work with challenging behaviours and gained a massive insight onto front line youth work.
